I'm Shay — mom of three and the home cook behind Body Treats By Shay. My food is a reflection of the life I grew up in and the family I'm building. My dad is Caribbean, my brother on my father's side is Spanish, and I grew up around tables where the flavors blended just as naturally as the family did. That upbringing lives in everything I cook — the Dominican rice and beans, the pernil, the garlic shrimp, the comfort food that feels like home no matter where you're from. Food has always been how my family shows love, and this blog is how I pass that on.
My journey with food began long before I started blogging. I grew up eating these dishes and later learned to cook them in my own kitchen, where I discovered how food carries culture, memories, and connection. Today, I share that passion through every recipe
These days I'm cooking for a full house — three kids, my husband, a life that moves fast, and a kitchen that is always busy. Every recipe on this blog has been made in a real kitchen, tested on real people, and approved by the most honest critics I know: my kids. Whether you're here for a quick weeknight dinner, a Caribbean classic, or something indulgent enough to make the whole house stop — you're in the right place. I cook real food for real life, and I'm so glad you found your way to my table.
